McDaniel Sues Circuit Clerks, State Supreme Court Wants Information

Starkville, Mississippi (WCBI) – State Senator Chris McDaniel sues a number of circuit clerks across the state requesting to see the birthdates of the voters who participated in the Republican primary runoff in the U.S. Senate race.

Oktibbeha County Circuit Clerk Glenn Hamilton confirmed Tuesday evening he was one of the clerks sued.

Reports say clerks in Choctaw, Montgomery, Neshoba, and Union Counties were also sued by McDaniel.

Meanwhile, the Mississippi Supreme Court has asked McDaniel to tell it what laws address the disclosure of voters’ personal information. Justices also asked the Attorney General’s office and the Harrison County Circuit Clerk to respond to McDaniel’s request.

McDaniel says many circuit clerks have redacted the birthdates of voters in poll books.

Hamilton tells WCBI his office legally complied with requests from McDaniel’s campaign and his actions are based on an state Attorney General’s office opinion.
