COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) -First responders teamed up today in support of their own comrades.

The Columbus Police Department and Columbus Fire and Rescue held a fundraiser at the McDonald’s on Highway 45 N.

All the money raised went to Sergeant Michael Griffin and Officer Benny Bush, who recently had a heart attack and a stroke.

Griffin and other police say that it says a lot about the first responders to team up to help one another.

“…The support…means a lot to me and my fellow officer Benny Bush.”

“…It’s good for us to team up together and have a function like this to support Sergeant Griffin and Officer Bush, you know, in their time of need.”
Columbus Police also says the event was meant for the community to come out and speak to their local first responders.
