Wanted Man Dies In Monroe County Crash

MONROE COUNTY, Miss. (Press Release) – Wanted man dies after crashing stolen SUV in Monroe County.

Deceased: Joseph Michael Keller, age 34 of Amory.

Time of accident: 3:39PM, Sunday, October 11, 2015

Location of Accident: Burks Road northeast of Hamilton

Mr. Keller was spotted by a citizen in a cemetery on Winders Road. They notified the sheriff’s department and when deputies arrived Mr. Keller drove north on Burks Road in a 2002 Chevy Avalanche that was reported stolen in Tupelo Saturday night at the Tupelo Furniture Market. Mr. Keller lost control of the vehicle 3 minutes later and overturned on Burks Road. He was ejected through the sunroof and was dead at the scene.

Due to the circumstances of the death his body will be taken to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Pearl for autopsy.

The investigation of the accident is being handled my MHP.
