ECRU, MISS. (WCBI) – The town of Ecru may soon have a comprehensive plan in place to deal with future growth.
Aldermen in Ecru are working with the MSU Stennis Institute to develop goals for the community, public services, economic development and other issues the growing town is likely to face.
Ecru’s mayor says with the four laning of Highway 15, and close proximity of businesses such as Toyota and Ashley Furniture, the town must promote responsible growth.
“We’re just trying to put together some rules and regulations on the town, what you can and can’t do, fix up a zoning area, what you put here, there, special places in town , trying to get it to where we can do an annex, back towards Pontotoc,” said Ecru Mayor Mark Baldwin.
Aldermen will discuss the issue during their regular meeting this evening.
