Man Sentenced in Fatal Accident

CORINTH, Miss. (AP) — A Corinth man has pleaded guilty in Alcorn County Circuit Court to a charge of DUI death stemming from a 2009 crash.

The Daily Corinthian reports 36-year-old William M. Lipe Jr. was sentenced to 20 years with 14 years suspended and six years to serve. He was also placed on five years of post-release supervision, according to court records.

The crash on Sept. 24, 2009, resulted in the death of 31-year-old Misty Joy Barnett Lipe. Authorities say the vehicle collided with the back of a stationary City of Corinth brush truck.
