Oxford Man Charged In Fatal Louisiana Crash
MONROE, La. (AP) – Louisiana State Police say two people died and one was seriously injured when a pickup traveling the wrong way on Interstate 20 hit a car head-on.
The accident happened late Saturday night just east of Monroe.
Troopers said in a news release that a pickup, driven by 41-year-old Jorge Benavides of Oxford, Mississippi,
was traveling west in the eastbound lanes when he struck an eastbound car driven by 20-year-old Thomas Williams, of Delhi.
Troopers say Williams, as well as a passenger, 19-year-old Jamerro May, of Monroe, were pronounced dead at the scene. Another passenger in the car was taken to a Monroe hospital with serious injuries.
Benavides was booked Sunday with two counts of vehicular homicide and other charges.
Online jail records do not list an attorney for Benavides
