TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – Finishing touches are being put on a Tupelo home that one week ago, was little more than a vacant lot. For the first time, Habitat for Humanity of Northeast Mississippi is taking part in what is called a “blitz build.”
This home on Park Street is being built in one week, with help from members of Tupelo’s First United Methodist Church. Each day there have been 20 or so volunteers working and that number is expected to jump Saturday.
“It is a sense of satisfaction, knowing, being able to talk to every homeowner and asking their story, and they get to know your story, where you’re from and you become, friends and family and it’s building a network of support, it’s just like your own neighbors where you live and you want to support them.”
Volunteers are needed to help Saturday at the Habitat home in the 300 block of Park Street. The home dedication takes place Sunday afternoon.
