TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) — Hundreds of volunteers are needed for a career expo targeting area eighth graders.
The CREATE Foundation is sponsoring the first ever, “Imagine the Possibilities” Career Expo, October sixth and seventh at the Bancorpsouth Arena.
This video is from a similar event on the coast last year. The event will feature activities connected to 18 career pathways.
All area eighth graders will come to the expo over the two day period, and organizers say the more volunteers they have, the better it will be for the students.
“One thing I’ve encouraged the people working in pathways to do, is become a mentor for a minute and look into the eyes of those young people. The more volunteers we have, then the more career guidance these young people can get, and in formal ways too,” said Larry Anderson, who is acting as an organizer for the event.
Volunteers are needed in a number of areas and those who answer the call get a meal and a t shirt. For information on how to help out, go to http://www.createfoundation.com/page.aspx?id=62
