STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – Starkville and Mississippi State University are preparing for big crowds Saturday when the Bulldogs take on the LSU Tigers for the first home football game of the season.
Thousands will be on a campus that has a lot of construction going on, making vehicle and foot traffic a bit more congested.
MSU police will be on patrol all day, even after fans make their way into the stadium for the 8:15pm kickoff.
MSU Police Chief Vance Rice says, “The population of the stadium is only a small part as we have thousands that come just to tailgate and never go in the stadium. So that 60,000 becomes 70 to 80 very quickly.”
Rice encourages fans to come onto campus from the Highways 182, 82, or 12.
Starkville offers free parking in several lots downtown and three options for public transit to and from Davis Wade Stadium.
