Video: UPDATE Starkville Police Surround Apartment Complex, School Locked Down

Update: Oktibbeha County Coroner Michael Hunt confirms Tyrell Gillespie, 27, was killed in today’s incident. His death is being ruled a homicide.

WCBI is told the shooting took place at about 2:24 p.m. between two units at the apartment complex.

Starkville, Mississippi (WCBI)- – Law enforcement have surrounded an apartment complex in Starkville.

Police officers have not confirmed why they are at Louisville Apartments on old Highway 25.

Multiple sources tell WCBI a shooting to place.

Starkville Public Schools confirm Emerson Family School, near the scene, is on lockdown.
