COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – They are common at birthday parties, festivals, and other kid-friendly events: Inflatable Bounce Houses. But the fun can turn frightening if the proper safety measures aren’t in place. Just last week in Colorado a bounce house went airborne with children inside. The owner of Jumpers Inflatables in Columbus says before she sends a crew to set up for an event, she checks the weather forecast.
“We tell every customer, every event we do that if the wind speeds are over 20 miles an hour, which I don’t like it being that high. If I see the wind speed with a possibility of being 15 miles per hour, I prefer they deflate and take them down. ”
Some other safety precautions to remember: Make sure the inflatable is properly staked to the ground with heavy duty, metal stakes. Make sure children are supervised by an adult. Lastly, be sure the company you are renting the bounce house from is licensed and insured.
