Video: Kidnapping Suspect Has Initial Court Appearance

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – Bond was set Tuesday for a homeless woman accused of abducting a three year old Tupelo boy .

22 year old Jamie Marie Wallace is charged with kidnapping.

Dawson Martez Perkins was reported missing Saturday afternoon from his apartment on Milford Street.

Police say Wallace had been staying with Perkins’ family for a few days before the incident.

An Amber Alert was issued Sunday.

Police found Wallace a few hours later in Southern Lee County, with a male friend.

Detectives say the man told them the child was at his sister’s house.

“It did turn out it was a good outcome , we were able to get the child back to the father unharmed safe, you know when we start these investigations, the first 24 hours are critical, the first 4 to 6 are most critical in finding the child back safe and alive.”

Investigators say Wallace claims she felt the child was hers and she needed to take care of him.
