Video: Lee Justice Judge Removed From Office

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) -Lee County Justice Court Judge Rickey Thompson’s time on the bench is officially over.

The Mississippi Supreme Court Thursday said it will not look at a motion to reconsider filed by Thompson Tuesday.

In its decision, The high court said this weeks filing is basically just a rewording of a motion to rehear his case the court ruled against last month.  That means Thompson is removed from office effective immediately for what the  Commission on Judicial Performance was willful misconduct on the bench.  The judicial watchdog group cited cases where Thompson sided with a particular bonding company and letting some drug court defendants take part in the program even though they were not eligible.  Thompson has denied all of those claims.
