Quadruple Murder Suspect Captured In Oktibbeha County

OKTIBBEHA COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – A man accused of killing four people is captured in Oktibbeha County.

Lowndes County Fugitive Apprehension Unit, working with U.S. Marshals arrest 27-year-old Robert Lee Adams at a home on Ozelliet Road Wednesday.

They found Adams hiding in a closet, surrounded by piles of clothes.

U.S. Marshals say Adams is wanted in Columbus, Ohio on four counts of murder, five counts of kidnapping, five counts of robbery, and one count of felonious assault.

They say he was involved in a deadly robbery, June 13th.

Adams and another person are accused of holding five victims at gunpoint, then shooting four of them to death.

Lowndes County deputies are part of the US Marshals team. The Oktibbeha County Sheriff’s Office provided additional support.

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The U.S. Marshals Southern Ohio Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team have tracked down a Columbus man wanted for the alleged murder of four people.

Robert Lee Adams, 27, is wanted in Columbus on four counts of Murder, five counts of Kidnapping, five counts of Robbery and one count of Felonious Assault. The charges are the result of a June 13 2015 robbery which turned deadly after Adams and an accomplice held five victims at gunpoint in the basement of a home in the 1600 block of E. Hudson Street in Columbus. It is alleged that Adams eventually shot five victims, killing four of them. Adam’s has been on the run since the shooting and has been the subject of a large scale multi-agency, multi-state fugitive investigation. Adam’s alleged accomplice has been in custody since shortly after the shooting.

Columbus-based Marshals, working closely with the Columbus Division of Police, developed information which led investigators to several addresses of interest near Starkville, Mississippi. Information and tips received by Marshals in Ohio indicated that Adams had fled to Mississippi shortly after the shooting. Deputies and Task Force Officers of the United States Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force and the Oktibbeha County Sheriff’s Department swarmed two addresses this morning in search of Adams eventually cornering the suspect in a home in the unincorporated community of Rock Hill in rural Oktibbeha County northeast of Starkville.

Adams was found cowering in bedroom closet, surrounded by piles of clothes.

Peter C. Tobin, United States Marshal for the Southern District of Ohio, said, “This fugitive has demonstrated extreme violence and shown a disregard for the lives of others. We in the law enforcement community are very happy that Adams is in custody without further bloodshed.”

In July of 2006, the United States Marshals Service established the Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force (GCRFTF). The task force covers the entire states of Mississippi and Alabama, New Orleans, LA and Memphis, TN. Primarily, the task force focuses on violent state and federal fugitives. Full-time members of the task force are as follows: U.S. Marshals Service, Mississippi Department of Correction, Mississippi Bureau of Investigation, Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department, Panola County Sheriff’s Department, Tupelo Police Department, Marshall County Sheriff’s Department, and Tate County Sheriff’s Department.
