WEBSTER COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — A Webster County teenager recovers from a serious surgery and goes on to capture a state tennis championship title.
Ever since the 8TH grade, East Webster High School identical twins Hayden and Morgan Hill had a desire to excel at the game of tennis. But it would be Hayden that would one day get her wish, in spite of her and her sister’s curvature of the spine.
“Well I knew I had scoliosis before I started playing tennis but I wore a brace and thought that would stop it but it got real bad really fast. So we knew surgery was the best way to go,” said Hayden Hill/2A State Tennis Champion.
“As soon as I could get back on those courts I was out there. And it was tough and it was a long road, but I finally got back to it and I won state my 10th grade year.
Tennis star Hayden Hill would repeat that feat once again in Jackson April 30th, as an 11th grader, just months after surgery.
“She didn’t know if she was ever going to get to play tennis again and now look at her, back to back state championship and she has really worked hard,” said Holly Ellis/Hayden’s Team Mate.
“Well I couldn’t have done it without my family, my team mates, and all the glory goes to God for sure,” said Hill.
Her team was on hand when their team mate fro the second time captured the 2A Singles Girls State Championship title.
“Like, not many people can come back from a surgery that serious and show everyone that it didn’t bother you,” said Holly Ellis.
“She is an inspiration. A lot of people are lucky enough to meet their hero in their life time. Well, I gave birth to mine,” said Liz Hill/Hayden’s Mother.
