Video: Clay County Man Convicted of Murder in Club G Stabbing

WEST POINT, Miss. (WCBI) — A 43-year-old Clay County man with a prior history of violence is sentenced to life in prison for murder. Circuit Court Judge Jim Kitchens sentenced Charles Smith after a jury found him guilty.
Smith was convicted of stabbing 60-year-old Benny Oaks to death at the former Club G nightclub in the White Station community on Labor Day weekend in September 2011. Smith has a prior record of burglary and aggravated assault. He spent a total of 21 years in prison. The previous convictions means he won’t be eligible for parole on the murder sentence.
