COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Most teens like to spend their summer having fun and hanging out with friends. Now the Columbus-Lowndes Public Library is offering kids a few creative ways to spend their summer learning something new and fun.
Local teens came out to the library for a preview of the activities being offered this summer.
Some of the vendors at the fair included the Mississippi State Aerospace Engineering Department, a guitar instructor and seamstress specializing in crochet technique.
There will also be a movie series shown throughout the summer.
Library workers say this is an opportunity for students to discover new interests and maybe even a new career path.
“We’re just trying to expose the teens in the area to new creative outlets, new possible careers. Just things, maybe even hobbies, that they haven’t even realized that they could be a part of,” says Joy Dupont, the Teen Specialist at Columbus-Lowndes Public Library.
This is the first year the library is offering summer activities for teens.
