Video: Lowndes County Schools Study ACT Prep Classes

Columbus, Miss. (WCBI) – Lowndes County schools may get ahead of the state’s move toward using the A-C-T  to measure whether students can graduate high school. Assistant Superintendent Robin Ballard told the county school board today the costs of starting a mandatory A-C-T prep course for students in the county’s three high schools. If adopted, school leaders hope the test prep not only would improve students’ college applications but also improve graduation rates.

“As Mississippi is moving forward with the college and career readiness standards, it’s very important that that be the test that the students take to exit high school.”

The Legislature and state Department of Education are considering replacing the current subject area tests required for graduation with the A-C-T.
