Video: Economic Leaders, TVA Talk Retail Development

BELDEN, Miss. (WCBI) — Elected officials, economic development experts and other civic leaders heard from experts on how to help existing retail outlets grow and attract new ones. The Tennessee Valley Authority hosted a workshop called “Raising Your Retail Bar” at its Belden customer service center. It featured retail leaders,  TVA economic development staffers and consultants who offered advice and strategies for communities to attract retail development. Organizers say those attending the morning workshop can go back better equipped to get retail outlets and businesses to look at their area.

“We are hoping that this a way they can help the valley expand, to create new retail, better retail, new jobs in the area, so it’s a great way to just bring a different type of economic development to the area,” said TVA spokesperson, Chris Stanley.

More than sixty people attended the workshop and panel discussion.
