Okolona Man Injured After Wagon Is Hit By 18-Wheeler

Okolona, Miss. (WCBI) – An Okolona man escaped serious injury after the hay wagon he was pulling was hit by an 18-wheeler.

The crash occurred on Highway 45 Alternate, just north of Highway 8,  in Chickasaw County about 11:40 AM on Thursday morning.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol says the 18-wheeler clipped the rear of the wagon. The impact caused 64 year-old Jackie Ray’s tractor to overturn on top of him.

Ray was taken to North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo with non-life threatening injuries.

The tractor-trailer, driven by 52 year-old Otis Riley, veered of the highway. Riley wasn’t injured.

State troopers continue to investigate the crash.
