Heather’s Weather Lab: Where’s My Ice Cream?
Columbus, Miss. (WCBI) – We’ve pretty much had all kinds of weather so far this year. Freezing rain, thunderstorms, gusty winds and snow…we’ve had it all so far this winter. It’s that kind of weather that may stop you from getting your favorite tub of ice cream.
Emanuel Williams is the operations manager at Blue Bell Creameries in Tupelo.
“The last couple of weeks we’ve had, had some real icy snowy weather and so typically we make the call and we won’t send our drivers out to deliver because the roads are just too bad,” said Williams.
It wasn’t just the cold weather that slowed up his drivers. Remember those windy days? That forced some of the drivers to wake up early.
“The guys try to get in early because the wind plays a part in it. And we have trucks that are kind of high,” said Williams.
Sometimes, even if the drivers wake up early or start their day late, the weather is just too bad.
“Last Tuesday, that’s a normal day that they run – we had actually not run because the roads were to icy,” said Williams.
But for the love of chocolate, they sure try everything they can to get that tub of ice cream in our tummies.
They have six trucks that head out for delivery, stopping by at least 100 of their customers.
