Video: New Starkville Police Chief Sworn In

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI)- Starkville’s newly-appointed police chief takes the oath.
Chief Frank Nichols was sworn in Friday afternoon at in front of a crowd of family members, friends, and supporters.
Nichols began working with the department in 1992 as a patrolman and has held several positions, including DUI officer, investigator, and swat commander.
He says he’s ready to get to work building a stronger department. “I interviewed today for the rank of assistant chief. According to the national average, we are about ten short. One of my shortterm goals is to get five in the next three and half years.
Nichols is a Starkville native and is the city’s first African-American chief of police.
