Plans Are Underway For ‘Wings Over Columbus’
Columbus Air Force Base, Miss. (WCBI) – “Wings Over Columbus” is less than two months away. Thursday one of the famous Thunderbirds flew into Columbus Air Force Base.
The air show is one of about 30 this year where the Thunderbirds will fly demonstrations.
Major Mike Fisher will go over logistics and other plans during his brief stop at CAFB.
The Thunderbirds pilots are based in Las Vegas but perform all over the country. The F-16’s they perform in, are the same as those that fly combat missions in Afghanistan.
2010 was the last time the Thunderbirds roared into the area.
“We’re excited to be back in the Golden Triangle area. As far as site selection, it goes back to what’s the public outreach. Our market, of course. We’re supposed to recruit, retain, and represent. And that’s what we love to do. So, Columbus has a great market and we’re excited to be here, and represent the pride, precision, and professionalism of the United States Airmen,” said Fisher.
The 10-year Air Force veteran says he has never flown at an air show in Columbus.
“Wings Over Columbus” will be April 5 and 6 at Columbus Air Force Base.
