West Point, Miss. (WCBI) – Older adults with vision problems are finding more opportunities to help make their daily lives easier.
A low vision rehabilitation program offered by North Mississippi Medical Center gives recommendations, such as the use of magnifiers, lighting in the home, and special markings for appliances.
The hope is these changes will enable people to more easily perform daily tasks.
Experts say you have to seek help, in order to know your options.
“There’s a lot of different items on the market that basically, trying to get the information out to people to know what’s available. If you can find the right device to be able to help you see, the there are a lot of things that you can do that you may have give up. So, it’s just a matter of figuring what’s best for you,” said NMMC Occupational Therapist Cheri Nipp.
In order to be enrolled in the program, you must be referred by a doctor or nurse practitioner.
