Vernon family still searching for answers for missing man
VERNON, Ala. (WCBI) – A Vernon family is desperate for answers as the search continues for a missing man now gone nearly three weeks.
Ricky Metcalfe was last seen on April 15, and since then, no calls, no visits, and no word.
Metcalfe’s sister, Shelia Metcalfe, said the silence is not like him.
“Every morning, I get up, and I have this bad feeling,” said Metcalfe.
When Shelia stood near the same spot where her brother was last seen, she said it’s a feeling she can’t shake.
Her brother, Ricky Metcalfe, has been missing since April 5.
“He’s a good person. He got a heart. He came, helped me with my Dad when he was sick. He helps anybody,” said Shelia Metcalfe.
Ricky was last seen near the 400 block of Harrison Court.
But since that day, no contact with family, not even his children or grandchildren.
“For him not to (come) out to see his two kids and his grandkids, and I know he loves them, something’s wrong. Something’s wrong,” said Shelia.
Shelia said she waited a week before contacting the police, hoping he would reach out like he always does when he needs space.
“When he is going through what he is going through, I give him time to come out because he genuinely does hide. You know, that’s just him. But he does genuinely come out and let me know, he’s ok,” said Shelia.
“I’ve been riding, just looking to see if I’ve seen him in places. I haven’t seen him walking,” said Shelia.
Vernon Police confirmed they’re investigating, but with no new updates and no leads shared publicly.
Metcalfe’s family is pleading for help.
“I know in my heart something’s not right,” said Shelia.
If you have any information about Ricky Metcalfe’s whereabouts, call the Vernon Police Department at (205)695-7103.
His family said they just want to know he’s safe.
The 52-year-old was wearing a red shirt when he left his last known location.
