STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – Dozens of high school students in Starkville are taking their community involvement to the next level.
About 50 students were inducted into the Mayor’s Youth Council Sunday, one of the largest inductions to take place for this group.
Over the next year, the students will work with city leaders to address issues that affect local youth. They will also organize service projects for Starkville.
Carys Snyder said, “We’re kids and no one normally listens to us, so that’s really why I did this. It’s an opportunity to work with important adults and actually give them our opinions.”
The program hopes to develop service leadership skills in these students and strengthen the community as a whole.
