COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – The Columbus community came together Saturday evening to celebrate some courageous folks who are staying sober.
The Pines and Cady Hill Recovery Center in downtown Columbus hosted the event. There were family friendly activities like face painting, a dunking booth, live music and good food to celebrate individuals that are living sober lives. Wesley Platt with Financial Works donated a brand new freezer for a lucky raffle ticket winner. Local restaurants filled the freezer with frozen veggies, meats and desserts as well.
“It’s also very important to have the support of your friends and to show people that you can have fun in recovery. It’s great that we can do this and get together and see the families coming together and see how your lives can become complete again,” says Tomlinson.
The event was sponsored by Mitchell Distributing and money raised through the raffle will be used for scholarships for people seeking treatment. This is the first year the sobriety celebration was held.
