Swiss tech company heads for HIVE Business Park in Tupelo
LEE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – A Swiss family-run technology company will be located in the newest industrial park in Lee County.
Governor Tate Reeves announced that the Liebherr Corporation will be located in The HIVE Business Park to expand its North American operations.
The Swiss company makes heavy machinery, such as cranes and other equipment. The company will have a state-of-the-art logistics center to serve the distribution and logistics operations for Liebherr’s after-sales services.
David Rumbarger is president of the Community Development Foundation and says another strong selling point was the location of Lee County School District’s Career and Technical Center at The HIVE.
“That was part of the attraction for Liebherr, they would be able to have a direct pipeline to some of the Lee County students for workers, plus it is a great campus and that is what this company is trying to establish. It is the first of three phases that will encompass more than 118 acres, facing Highway 6 onto Oxford,” said Rumbarger.
Eventually, Liebherr will invest up to $238 million and create up to 342 jobs for its Lee County operations.
