LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – One person died after a crash in northern Lowndes County Tuesday afternoon.

The accident happened at about 3 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 12 and Woodlawn Road, by the Old Country Store.

It appears two trucks collided. The victim 64-year-old Dale Shepherd of Caledonia was driving a Chevrolet pickup truck west when he was struck by another truck that was traveling on Sander’s Mill Road and entered Highway 12.

The truck Shepherd was driving overturned, and he was pronounced dead on the scene.

The highway was shut down while crews worked to clear the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
