Tupelo Family Counselor Indicted
TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – A Tupelo family counselor is out on bond after facing charges for fondling a teenage client.
Malachy McCool, 66, has been accused by a Grand Jury of fondling the girl at an April 23 session in his Madison Street office.
McCool posted a $25,000 bond, but he must appear for arraignment on July 19 where formal charges will be read against him.
McCool’s attorney, T.K. Moffet, says the girl has a history of mental instability and may have misunderstood McCool’s behavior during the session.
State law requires a probable cause hearing to determine if enough evidence exists to pursue an arrest for person’s in positions of trust including counselors.
