Starkville Boys and Girls Club unveils new STEM center
STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – The Boys and Girls Club of America in Starkville opened up the Cal Ripken Senior Foundation STEM Center.
The Tennessee Valley Authority and the Ripken Foundation partnered to make the $1.1 million project a reality.
Students will have access to Chromebooks, a 3D printer, education STEM products, and a custom curriculum based on STEM learning.
President and CEO of Boys and Girls Club Golden Triangle said the investment in the future will be well worth the money.
“The kids are our future. And so the more I learn about the technology and advancements that take place that strike that interest in becoming future engineers, this is the starting point. Here at Boys and Girls Club, this new stem innovative lab will give them that. Just that opportunity that extra boost to say ‘Hey, I can do this’, and have fun while doing it,” said President and CEO of the Boys and Girls Club Golden Triangle Region Rob Thorton.
TVA is opening 27 STEM centers in the seven states the agency services.
