Federal approval: $600M set to benefit Mississippi hospitals
MISSISSIPPI (WCBI) – The federal government is giving Mississippi the go-ahead to make good on one of Governor Tate Reeves’ campaign promises.
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, or CMS, approved the first part of a $700 million reimbursement plan for hospitals across the state.
Under this portion of the plan, hospitals would be reimbursed near the average commercial rate for services provided through the managed care system, essentially receiving the federal ceiling for Medicaid reimbursement for managed care.
The approval cleared the way for about $600 million to come to Mississippi hospitals.
Late in the campaign, Reeves proposed a two-part reimbursement plan that would net hospitals additional payouts for both managed and fee-for-service care.
The fee-for-service component must still be approved by CMS.
