Suspect charged with arson while in the Lowndes County Detention Center
LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI)- A man currently sitting in the Lowndes County Adult Detention Center on shoplifting charges is now charged with arson for allegedly burning a house down in New Hope.
A home on Oswalt Road burnt down on November 24th.
Firefighters were called to the scene where the house was already engulfed in flames.
Steven Bryant Bradley is the man accused of setting that house ablaze.
Witnesses tell investigators that Bradley was at the residence shortly before the fire, arguing with a resident of the home.
The Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office reports that Bradley made the statement to the resident that he would “burn the house down”.
The resident went inside the home and a few minutes later the house was on fire and Bradley was nowhere in sight. Deputies quickly suspected Bradley of the arson.
Last week, Bradley was arrested by the Columbus Police Department for shoplifting at Walmart in Columbus.
Bradley has a long criminal history and has been booked into the Lowndes County Adult Detention Center for a total of 29 times with 63 different charges.
