West Point football coach Chris Chambless is retiring after 25 years with program
WEST POINT, Miss. (WCBI) — Longtime West Point head football coach Chris Chambless informed his players Friday that he is retiring after 25 years with the program.
Chambless was hired by West Point in 1999 as defensive coordinator. He worked in that role for seven seasons until he was promoted to head coach in 2006.
The Green Wave won eight state championships during Chambless’ time at West Point — one when he was defensive coordinator and seven as head coach. That includes a stretch from 2016 to 2019 where the program won four-straight state titles.
Most recently, Chambless capped off his career by leading the Green Wave to its 12th state championship in a 35-7 win over Laurel. He finishes his career with a 206-45 record as West Point’s head coach.
Tune in to WCBI tomorrow night as we will have more on Chambless’ tenure with the Green Wave.
