Salvation Army Angel Trees: Deadline to get gifts is December 13
TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – Every member of the community can be one of Santa’s helpers as part of the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program.
In Tupelo, the Angel Trees are up at all Walmart locations and the Mall at Barnes Crossing. Each tree has a wish list with a child’s name, known as an “angel.”
You can take the tag off the tree, purchase the items on the wish list, and return the gifts in time for them to be sorted for distribution day.
The goal is to provide Christmas gifts for kids in needy families. Captain LeAnna Thomas knows firsthand the impact the Angel Tree program makes in a child’s life.
“I remember when I was on the Angel Tree myself and those were some of the only gifts I got for Christmas. Both parents were struggling, as two working households, to get food on the table. Even with food stamps, it was tough to get food on the table. So, the Angel Tree gifts we got meant the world to us and it really was Christmas for us,” said Marion.
The deadline to get the Angel Tree gifts turned in is December 13. You can drop the gifts off at the Angel Tree location at the Mall at Barnes Crossing or the Salvation Army’s Carnation Street location in Tupelo.
