Then today, an army of volunteers helped prepare and serve meals for two hours today.
Organizer SaPerior Patton said it is a labor of love for her and the volunteers.
“We had several volunteers come together today to make this happen. We had servers. We had delivery drivers to deliver places to people in need the sick the elderly the disabled we had people to help prep food and the kitchen. We have a cleanup crew and we had about 20 to 30 volunteers show up today. Anybody who needed a meal was allowed to get a meal today if you’re working and it was your lunch break you wanted a quick meal, if you’re low on food, having food insecurities,” said Patton.
Volunteers also made deliveries to people who could not make it to the church. In all, they served about 130 meals.
