Safe travels: MHP’s Thanksgiving travel enforcement period begins
MISSISSIPPI (WCBI) – It is the busiest travel day of the year and the Mississippi Highway Patrol wants everyone to have a safe Thanksgiving holiday.
Troopers with the Mississippi Highway Patrol will be out on the roads this Thanksgiving holiday. They will be checking for distracted drivers and those going over the speed limit.
Staff Sergeant Bryan McGee is with Troop F. He said the goal is to make sure everyone has a fun and safe Thanksgiving holiday. He said there will also be safety checkpoints throughout the state.
“You know, if you come up to a safety checkpoint, they’re not there to hinder people. We’re just there to try and help and make sure everyone is safe on the road. Make sure you have the driver’s license and insurance card and make sure you’re buckled up. You know, like we said before, when you get in a car, make sure you are always buckled up,” said McGee.
The Thanksgiving enforcement period runs through the weekend.
