Columbus assault case: Man faces charges after weekend altercation

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Columbus police arrested a Lowndes County man in connection to a weekend assault that left two people injured, one of them in serious condition.

24-year-old Brody Thomas Kizer was arrested late November 14.

Kizer was charged with two counts of aggravated assault.

Officers responded to a call around 1 a.m. Saturday on Fifth Street North, across from the Trotter Convention Center.

According to police, the two victims saw a group of four males and two females vandalizing holiday decorations.

The victims questioned the group’s actions and a physical altercation broke out.

The victims were later taken to the hospital by private vehicle. 50-year-old Detrich Jefferson received serious injuries.

Columbus police were still looking for five other suspects.
