Alabama Governor signs statewide ‘No Burn Order’

ALABAMA (WCBI) – Alabama Governor Kay Ivey took executive action to address fire dangers in the state.

Ivey signed a statewide Drought Emergency Declaration, also referred to as a “No Burn Order”.

The order prohibits all outside burning in the state.

A statewide fire alert was issued on October 24, since then the Alabama Forestry Commission has responded to over 350 fires that have damaged over 3,000 acres of land.

The order goes into effect at 8 a.m. Thursday, November 9, and will remain in place until the state forester has determined that conditions have changed enough to reduce the likelihood of wildfires.
