Juvenile arrested in connection with series of Lee County car burglaries

LEE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – Lee County deputies made an arrest in a string of burglaries in the northern part of the county.

A juvenile is in custody in connection with a series of car burglaries early Thursday morning in the Eggville and Auburn communities.

The sheriff’s office believed they recovered most of the stolen property, including several handguns and tools.

At least two of the reported burglaries were caught on home security video, and that evidence helped lead investigators to the suspect.

In a video statement, Sheriff Jim Johnson mentioned that most of the cars that were burglarized were left unlocked.

He urged residents to lock their doors, even in rural areas.

He thanked those who shared their security video with investigators and said more arrests are possible.
