Tailgate the Town: Mississippi State gears up for homecoming gameday
STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – Starkville hosted its annual Tailgate the Town in preparation for Mississippi State’s Homecoming game on Saturday evening.
The community members gathered in Downtown Starkville to enjoy food and savings while shopping at local retailers.
Paige Hunt, the director of tourism, emphasized that this event is an excellent way for fans to get into the homecoming spirit.
“Tailgate the Town has been going on for several, several years now but people in the past couple of years have really gotten more into it. There are tents and tailgate food, and a lot of our retail shops are offering discounts today. It’s a wonderful way to kick off what I’m calling homecoming eve because it’s you know homecoming at Mississippi State this weekend. We’re gonna welcome the fans from Lexington, from our Kentucky Wildcats that we’re playing so this is just a fun way to get festive and get in the hail state spirit,” said Hunt.
Downtown businesses expected hundreds of visitors.
