EMA gives update on Columbus damage assessment

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Emergency management officials gave an update on damage assessments in Columbus.

During a meeting Monday morning, EMA reported $17 million in damage to public property.

$6.5 million in damage was done in the Columbus School District. There was damage to the Hunt, Stokes-Beard, Union, and Sale campuses.

Schools superintendent Dr. Cherie Labat said 60 students in the district are displaced.

The Columbus Police Department now has 20 state troopers assisting in patrol as clean-up and assessments continue.
