Man found living in “uninhabitable conditions,” family members arrested
LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – The living conditions were so bad, a local couple was charged with neglect.
According to investigators, Teresa Haynes, 36, and Henry Spencer, 60, were arrested after a vulnerable adult was found in horrid living conditions.
Tuesday, Lowndes County deputies visited a home on Highway 373 after receiving a disturbance call.
Once they arrived, Teresa Haynes claimed she was assaulted by her husband, Henry Spencer.
Spencer was not home at the time, but after a further investigation, deputies found an 18-year-old vulnerable adult, living in “uninhabitable conditions.”
The 18-year-old is a family member, who requires extensive adult care, that was not being met by Haynes and Spencer.
Spencer arrived back at the home while deputies were still on the scene. He was arrested for Domestic Violence and Neglect of a Vulnerable Adult.
Deputies also discovered Spencer is a convicted sex offender, but was not registered at his current location. He was also charged with Failing to Register as a Sex Offender.
Haynes was arrested for Neglect of a Vulnerable Adult.
The 18-year-old male victim was transported by ambulance to Baptist Memorial Hospital.
