WEST POINT, Miss. (WCBI) – Texting while driving has lead to traffic accidents and loss of life, especially among teens. Now officials at West Point High are trying to do something about it.
A special pep rally to bring more awareness to the dangers of texting and driving was held in the school’s gymnasium. Mississippi is second in the nation for teen deaths due to texting and driving. Volunteers used a bike to show how difficult it is to ride and focus on steering. Students also had some fun with a dancing and singing contest and a performance from the West Point High Band and Dance line. The theme of the rally was “Act Out Loud: Make some Noys for Safe Driving”.
