Tupelo man facing 18 charges after pursuit

CLAY COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – A safety check point, a pursuit and a damaged patrol car ended with a Tupelo man in the Clay County jail.

Now, Ryan Lee Wills, 25, is facing 18 charges, including Aggravated Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer, Felony Fleeing and DUI.

Clay County Sheriff Eddie Scott said his deputies were at a checkpoint on Highway 50 West, near Cedarbluff, early Saturday morning.

Wills was accused of turning around from the checkpoint and refusing to stop.

Scott said at some point, Wills put his vehicle in reverse and rammed a deputy’s patrol car.

The Tupelo man was eventually captured near Hebron School, after getting stuck in the mud.

He was still on probation and remains in the Clay County jail.
