Children’s clinic gets visit from Ole Miss softball team
TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – It was a special day for patients at the Children’s of Mississippi Specialty Clinic in Tupelo, as members of the Ole Miss softball team paid a visit.
Rain outside didn’t dampen spirits of patients, doctors and staff at the clinic, as members of the women’s softball team toured the facility.
Clinic workers said the visit means a lot to patients and their parents, while the Rebels’ softball coach said the field trip is one of the many ways the team tries to be a positive impact throughout the area.
“It really kind of makes them less nervous, lets them have a little fun when they come to the doctor, as opposed to it being a real strenuous situation or nerve racking, just like of lift their spirits,” said Nurse Manager Kristi Stone.
“For the girls to get out and kind of see the young kids and what they’re experiencing on a daily basis, they don’t get the opportunity to get out sometimes to play softball, get out and experience some of the athletic pieces of it, and we can kind of bring that to them,” said Coach Mike Smith.
The Ole Miss Rebel Softball Team has partnered with “Children’s of Mississippi” Hospital in Jackson and visits that facility whenever they have games in the metro area.
