Inmate escapes from Noxubee County Community Work Center

NOXUBEE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – Another inmate from the Noxubee County Community Work Center in Macon escapes, but his time on the run is short lived.

The Mississippi Department of Corrections says 29-year-old Terry Pierce Jr. was found missing just before 4 p.m. Monday.

Noxubee County Sheriff Terry Grassaree says Pierce stole a vehicle.

There was a pursuit that ended in a crash at the Highways 16 and 45 intersection in Scooba. No word on if there were any injuries.

MDOC is still investigating how Pierce escaped.

No word from law enforcement on whether Pierce was armed during the escape.

Pierce was serving 15 years out of Pearl River County for Aggravated Assault and Fleeing from a Law Enforcement Officer convictions from 2009.

If convicted of escape, he could be sentenced up to five additional years in prison.
