Columbus duo facing multiple charges
COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Two people were charged shortly after a Columbus shooting but do not face charges for the gunfire.
Jerome Dooley, 39, of Starkville, was charged with Possession, Sale, Transfer of a Stolen Firearm and Failure to Appear on a Previous Charge.
Demote Antwan Harris, 26, was charged with Possession, Sale, Transfer of a Stolen Firearm. Thursday afternoon Columbus Police Chief Fred Shelton confirmed Harris was also charged with Aggravated Assault in connection with the shooting.
The shooting happened early Sunday morning, on 7th Avenue North.
Dooley and Harris were both arrested about 12:45 a.m.
Police Chief Fred Shelton said the unidentified victim was shot in the leg and later released from the hospital.
The shooting remains under investigation.
The two men arrested could face more charges.
