Toyota Donates $50,000 To Special Olympics Mississippi
TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – The “Partlow Drummers” entertained a crowd at the Tupelo Automobile Museum, as Toyota Motor Manufacturing Mississippi announced a partnership with Special Olympics Mississippi.
The automaker has made a $50,000 donation, making Toyota Mississippi the statewide “Torch Bearer” for Special Olympics Mississippi.
That donation will allow even more athletes with intellectual disabilities to take part in competitions throughout the state.
“It will go towards equipment if we need more equipment,it will go toward increasing number of medical screenings we have around the state, which now we do it at all of our statewide events but we would love to do it at more events,” said Sam Wells, of Special Olympics Mississippi.
“It is a humbling experience and an honor for us all to be here and it’s another small token of our appreciation of giving back to the community, but also we really believe in Special Olympics and what they bring to the table and empowering people to do more. That’s the Toyota Way. We’re always looking for a better way to do things, so why not help. We thought this was a really good opportunity,” said Sean Suggs, President of TMMMS.
During the celebration, Toyota also recognized 35 non profits that received a donation from the automaker in 2018.
