Itawamba County death row inmate has appeal rejected

JACKSON (WCBI) – The man convicted of the 2000 abduction, torture and murder of an Itawamba County teenager loses another appeal to set aside his death sentence.

Eddie Loden was sentenced to die for the attack on Leesa Gray in the Dorsey community.   Loden was seeking a delay in his execution by claiming the current drug Mississippi plans on using in his injection is not proven to keep him unconscious during the execution.    He says the 500-milligram dose of midazolam is not sufficient.  The Mississippi Supreme Court in its ruling says Loden presents no evidence the type of drug should impact his execution and no new hearing on its merit is needed.   The U.S. Supreme Court has already ruled his trial and death sentence are legal.
